A Brief Introduction to Playing Pigeon Drop

Pigeon Drop is on the cutting edge of online game play. Technical advancements make it possible to physically integrate the user into the online experience, making them active participants in the game and allowing them to launch worldwide attacks against every online player. Players use their skills to launch global attacks while running with their phone to evade incoming poop.

Using the power of GPS and other location devices, Pigeon Drop shows actual real time map locations of every player that is currently playing the game. Every player is a possible target as you launch aerial splatter attacks from high above, while other players are forced to physically run with their phone to get out of the way. But beware, you too are an active target for other online players, and will constantly be forced to actively evade enemy attacks.

Let’s get down to some details.

Your map display will indicate the last known location of every player currently logged into the game. To receive updated player locations, simply press the radar icon, which is found in the bottom left corner of your screen. Your location will appear as a blue icon on the map with all other online users appearing as red icons. The closer you zoom in on a particular player the more accurate your scan will be. Once zoomed in on a player you can tap their red icon to see their player ID along with a dialogue icon that allows you to send in game messages to the other player.

Note that scanning a player at close range will notify them of your presence and update them with your current location. You can only perform a scan once every fifteen seconds, so anticipating enemy movement will be key before you launch an attack.

Once you have an enemy spotted, use your finger to move the crosshair icon over their map location. You can use the standard apple gestures, as well as the plus and minus buttons located on screen to zoom in and out of the area you wish to attack. The closer you zoom in on your enemy the more accurate your drop and the better your chances of a successful hit.

When ready, drop your pigeon bomb by pressing the splat button located in the bottom right corner of your screen. Your pigeon army can drop three rounds at in rapid succession. After each drop it will take twenty seconds for each of your pigeons to reload and fire again.

Once a round is fired the opposing player is notified of an incoming attack and has three seconds to physically run out of the immediate area. If they fail to vacate the area fast enough they will get splattered and a small splat icon will appear above their location. As a result of the strike, the opposing player will be unable to command any pigeons for fifteen seconds

Don’t forget that other players are just like you, walking and running to evade attacks.  Just because you launch an attack at their current location doesn’t mean they’ll still be there by the time the poop hits the ground. Try to anticipate their next move and launch attacks slightly ahead of the direction you think they’re traveling in.

Don’t forget, these are other real people you’re playing against! And they will be actively trying to attack you as well. Luckily the pigeons have your safety in mind and are on the lookout for signs of trouble.

Your pigeons will alert you about what’s going on in the world around the world. You can access these alerts by tapping the blue alert bar located at the top of your screen. These notifications will let you know if another player is actively scanning your location or is currently launching an attack. Once you’ve clicked on the status bar you can press on an individual alert to obtain more information. For instance, an alert about another player scanning your location, or an incoming attack alert, will give you the option of jumping directly to that players location, allowing you to launch a counter attack.

The alert bar area will also give you other status updates like letting you know if a friend comes online, if you’ve receive a text message, or if you’ve earned an achievement.

You can check your achievements and score at any point in the game by accessing the menu bar located directly beneath the blue alert bar. Here you can access the Help menu, check your player ranking, and see if any of your friends come online. The arrow icon, located on the right side of the bar, allows you to access additional functionality that may be added at later dates.

If you would like to add friends to your player list you will need to use Apple’s game center application, which is available on the latest versions of the iPhone operating system.

Sound plays an exciting part of the Pigeon Drop experience. Both text and sound notifications will let you know if you’ve been scanned by an enemy player, or if an attack is happening in your general area. Playing with high sound volume will quickly alert you to what’s happening in the game. If the in-game volume isn’t loud enough you may have to log out of the game, raise the ring tone volume, and then log back in.

Because of the active nature of Pigeon Drop we recommend turning off Wi-Fi. Your iPhone will automatically switch to a 3G setting when you leave Wi-Fi areas but this may cause a temporary delay in the game. We consider it best if you disable Wi-Fi first and run the game on the 3G network. To turn off Wi-Fi exit the Pigeon Drop application and click on the settings icon located on your home screen. Here you can select Wi-Fi settings and set the switch to off.

It is hoped that these basic instructions should give you enough information to start playing the game. If you wish to read more detailed instructions, have a question you wish to ask, or want to provide some feedback, please visit us at situware.net/games
